Yarra Valley & Outer Eastern Vietnam Veterans Day Commemoration
An initiative of the  Outer Eastern Melbourne Sub-branch, Vietnam Veterans Assn; RSL Sub-branches: Croydon, Healesville, Lilydale, Marysville, Mt Evelyn, Upper Yarra, Warburton, Yarra Glen; Outer Eastern & Yarra Valley Sub-branch, National Serviceman’s Association.
In 2003, approaches were made to Healesville RSL by local Vietnam Veterans who were concerned for the future of the district's Vietnam Veterans Day Services.  They felt that a larger Service combining  RSL Sub-branches and Vietnam Veterans of the broader upper Yarra Valley  would ensure a more appropriate, lasting remembrance. Subsequently the RSLs & Veterans met and the result was our first Combined Vietnam Veterans Day Commemorative Service in 2005.  The combination has proved successful and has been growing each year (despite 2009's atrocious weather). The Commemoration rotates between communities each year.  For a pictorial history visit our

YARRA GLEN RSL Dear Yarra Valley Vietnam Veterans Day Participants;               It is with sadness that I announce the cancellation of this year's commemoration at Yarra Glen on the 15th of August.  Given the state of the community infections, the organising committee feels that it is prudent to give some advance notice to you so other arrangements can be made with your time.               We thank you for your willingness to recognise the sacrifice of those Australians who served in the Vietnam War, especially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.  We look forward to continuing our remembrances when conditions permit doing so.               We are extremely disappointed that we cannot openly display the 30 paintings in "LEST WE FORGET - VIETNAM" by Provenance Artists Inc.  However, they will be exhibited at the National Vietnam Veterans Museum starting next week.  Details can be found on-line at www.artsofoz.com/page3               Finally, we ask that you, in your own way, remember the service of our veterans, on Sunday as planned, or on Wednesday the 18th of August, Vietnam Veterans Day.   LEST WE FORGET Ed Bartosh, Secretary Enquiries: Ed Bartosh: 0438 508 235 Steve Shortis: 0418 992 998
